Artist: Peter O'Brien Media: Sandstone Tucson resident and refuge from the aerospace industry, Peter O’Brien buys a special type of sandstone in Northern Arizona and works it with patience and care to create Southwestern Religious statures and replicas of desert animals. O’Brien moved to Tucson from Minnesota 27 years ago and his love of the Southern Arizona desert is apparent in his artwork. The amazing pieces are unique in the detail he is able to bring out in the sandstone. In his studio, Seventh Sun Creations, part of the process he uses is to study a piece of sandstone to understand what might be hidden there and how he can best reveal the buried treasure. His sense of humor an excellent people skill s probably help him in his life’s work as well as his talent.
