Anna Shallman Media : Beaded Art I grew up in Hibbing, Minnesota and have lived in Ely for thirteen years. I love the lakes, trees and rocks of northern Minnesota but my heart is beginning to yearn for warmer temperatures and brighter colors to help get me through the winters. I discovered this beaded art form while living in Tucson, Arizona the fall of 2000. I was learning how to Navajo weave and would frequent galleries to get ideas. Most galleries also carried these beaded pieces and I fell in love with them. Besides beading I have also started to paint and create objects to reflect the southwest. Since I can’t live in the southwest all winter, I am bringing its colorful art to the north woods.
