Artist: Sherry Mann Media: Encaustics Encaustics by Sherry When I was introduced to encaustics last fall, the experience seemed to hit me over the head, and I fell in love with the medium. After years of painting, and loving to paint, I found myself in yet another art class, and discovered this was something I could do that truly allowed me to portray what was in my heart into a finished piece. The art of encaustics uses wax which explains the depth, the glow, and the texture that I can obtain. I find it perfect for representing the cosmos, and everything in it, from asteroids, planets, nebula, and galaxies, to what can be found right here on earth. Although my medium of choice is now encaustics, I sometimes work in acrylics, and less frequently, in watercolors. Don't be surprised to find something besides wax showing up once in a while, if I feel I did the media justice. In the meantime, let me share my passion with you, and hope you find it as enchanting as I do.
